Driver's Education Compliance

COMPLIANCE BETWEEN STUDENTS, PARENTS/LEGAL GUARDIANS, AND DOUCET'S DRIVING SCHOOL

The 38-Hour Course

INSTRUCTION:  The student will receive 30 hours of classroom instruction in driver education and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, with no more than a total of 2 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction per day.  The fee for the 38-hour course is $390.00.  A minimum deposit of $50.00 is required to reserve a seat in the class and is NONREFUNDABLE. The student must be at least fourteen years, nine months of age and be enrolled in grade eight or above to enroll in the 38-hour course.

♦ Behind-the-wheel instruction will be given in either a 2016 Nissan Sentra or a 2014 Ford Focus equipped with dual brakes, automatic transmission, left and right-side mirrors, and cushions for proper seating of students when necessary.  This vehicle will be properly identified as an instructional vehicle.  The instructor will pick up/deliver the student at a site designated by this school.

Appointments for driving lessons must be cancelled by the student through the website a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the lesson to avoid forfeiture of that lesson.  A forfeited lesson must be made up in order to receive a Certificate of Successful Completion.  The charge to make up a lesson is an additional $50.00 per lesson.  Due to bad weather or other extreme circumstances, a driving lesson may be cancelled by this school without 24-hour prior notice.  A lesson cancelled by this school will be made up at no extra cost to the student.

The student must pay the cost of the course in full and complete the 8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction within 120 days of the final day of classroom instruction. If for any reason, the student does not pay the cost of the course in full within the allotted time of 120 days, the entire fee paid for driver's education will be forfeited. If for any reason, other than that caused by Doucet's Driving School, the student does not complete the 8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction within the allotted time of 120 days, the entire fee paid for driver's education will be forfeited.

EQUALITY:  No owner, instructor, agent, or employee of this school shall engage in any form of illegal discrimination against any student for any reason or in any other illegal activities. All applicable federal, state, and local laws shall be adhered to.

ATTENDANCE:  A student who misses a classroom lesson will be allowed to reschedule that lesson the next time that lesson is taught.

DISCIPLINE:  If a student does not conduct himself in a proper way as defined by the instructor, he will be given limited opportunity to correct his behavior and/or general attitude before being permanently expelled. Refund of tuition/fee(s) will not be granted.

TESTING:  Unit tests will be administered at the end of each unit of study, and a final test will be given upon the completion of all units. The student must, according to Louisiana State law, score at least 80%.  Alternative testing techniques are available upon request for students with verifiable hearing, speech, or learning disabilities.

CHEATING:  A student who is caught cheating on any test shall be permanently expelled.  Refund of tuition/fee(s) will not be granted.

CERTIFICATE OF SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION:  This certificate indicates that the student has completed the 30-hour classroom course with at least 80% accuracy and has completed 8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with at least 70% accuracy.  This certificate and one additional copy will be completed and awarded to the student by this school when the student has successfully completed the 38-hour driver education course and has paid all tuition/fee(s) in full.  This certificate shall bear the school seal, thereby certifying its authenticity, as is required by the Office of Motor Vehicles, State of Louisiana. This certificate in no way guarantees a passing grade on any or all parts of any retests given by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections (Office of Motor Vehicles), in securing a learner's permit and/or driver's license. The student must rely on his own individual performance if and/or when retested by the Office of Motor Vehicles.

This school makes no guarantees as to, and assumes no responsibility for the correctness, sufficiency, or completeness of such information and recommendations.  Other or additional safety measures may be required under particular circumstances.

♦ No owner, instructor, agent, or employee of this school shall give the impression to a student that, upon completion of the instructions, this school will guarantee the issuance of a Certificate of Successful Completion or the securing of a learner's permit and/or driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.  Furthermore, under no circumstance will the student receive any school credit for completion of this course.
